This article is meant for regions of the NC Balance of State CoC who are piloting a new version of the Coordinated Entry (CE) Assessment tool for prioritization. Only Regions 3, 5, 7, and 12 have access to complete this data entry for September 30, 2023.
Introduction
Responses to the pilot CE assessments can be recorded on paper form, fillable PDF, or live directly in HMIS. Ultimately to be included in pilot, pilot CE Assessments must be into HMIS.
Note: the responses will not appear in the By Name List report during the pilot. Points or referral recommendations will not be available. The Pilot's results will help determine the points framework.
Basic Steps
- Use EDA and Backdate modes
- Open the Project Start or Interim Update (as applicable)
- Select the “NC BoS CoC CE Assessment Pilot” from the new Select an Assessment area
- Complete the responses according to client answers
- Click “Save”
- Navigate back to the default Project Start or Interim Update to complete the VI-SPDAT
- Don’t forget to complete the CE Assessment question too!

Detailed Steps
1. Use EDA and Backdate modes Record the data for the appropriate Front Door or Coordinated Entry HMIS project and for the date conducted
2. Search for client and navigate to the Entry/Exit tab
3. Open the Project Start or Interim Update (as applicable)
3. Select the “NC BoS CoC CE Assessment Pilot” from the new Select an Assessment area
4. Complete the responses according to client answers according to the Pilot CE Assessment Guide
5. Click “Save”
6. Navigate back to the default Project Start or Interim Update to complete the VI-SPDAT
