For New Agencies Joining HMIS or Existing Agencies with New Funding sources
This article explains when and how to submit a New Project Request using the New Agency Form in two common situations:
- A new agency joining HMIS for the first time
- An existing HMIS agency receiving a new funding source or starting a new program
Start Here: Is your project New to HMIS?
New Agency Joining HMIS
Your agency is not currently in HMIS, and:
- You have received funding that requires HMIS participation, or
- You will begin serving clients who you want to be recorded in HMIS
- Programs dedicated to HUD's Category 1, 2, or 4 Homeless Definitions are encouraged to join!
- Your agency is not a Victim Service Provider dedicated to those fleeing interpersonal violence
Your next step is to see if the Homeless Management Information System is the right fit! For a preview of the process, use our New Agencies Guide.
- Navigate from the NCCEH home page select the Data Team tab at the top of the page. Select HMIS@NCCEH from the drop-down. From Data Team this page, click on the Interested Agencies.
- Or click this link here to be sent to the NCCEH Interested Agencies Page to select the New Agency Request form.
Your agency already uses HMIS, but:
- You received a new grant or contract
- You are launching a new program
- You will begin serving a new population of clients you want to be recorded in HMIS
- The project must be reported separately for HUD, ESG, VA, SAMHSA or state reporting
If you have determined your agency's path into HMIS, your next step is to connect with the Data Team.
Navigate from the NCCEH.org home page select the Data Team tab at the top of the page. Select HMIS@NCCEH from the drop-down. From Data Team this page, click on the Current HMIS Agencies option.
Or click this link here to be sent to the Current HMIS Agencies to select the HMIS@NCCEH New Project Form.
What Happens After Submission?
- The HMIS team reviews the request for completeness and compliance
- If the agency is new or rejoining HMIS, the agency and HMIS Data Team will have a new agency orientation meeting
- The Data Team will respond with any follow-up questions
- The project is created and configured in HMIS
- The Agency Admin is notified when setup is complete
- User access requests can then be submitted (for users other than Agency Admins)
Processing time may vary depending on complexity and reporting deadlines.
